ARCHBISHOPS PASTORAL LETTER

The Archbishop’s Pastoral Letter is a call to consider carefully the very complex issues being raised in relation to the notion of marriage and the proposed change in legislation to allow same sex marriage.

The Archbishop is encouraging “an active and respectful engagement in this critical public conversation” where we will hopefully “strive to uphold the dignity of every human person, including persons who experience same sex attraction, welcoming them as our brothers and sisters”.  Copies of the letter are available at the rear of all Churches.

NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK

Today Sunday 3 September 2017 begins National Child Protection Week, and it is an opportunity to focus on our Church’s ongoing commitment to the wellbeing of children.  The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has pointed out that the greatest threat to the future wellbeing of our children will be society’s complacency to the issue.  This week is a great opportunity to keep the message at the forefront of our minds. https://www.cam.org.au/Professional-Standards/admin.

Our Parish of St Anne and St Bede has adopted a Policy for the Safety of Children and Other Vulnerable People.
