St Margaret Mary’s will be host to the Relic.
The year 2023 marks 100 year since the arrival of the SALESIAN OF ST JOHN BOSCO IN AUSTRALIA.
To celebrate this important centenary, a Relic of Don Bosco will be brought to Australia, and will visit Salesian centres in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and New South Wales.
The small relic, taken from the body of the saint which is held in Turin, is enclosed in a 410kg glass casket. The replica which comes to us in housed permanently with the Salesians in Hong Kong.
On it’s arrival in Australia it will initially be housed with the Salesian Province House in Ascot Vale.
Eventually, on Saturday 30th September, and prior to its return to Hong Kong, Don Bosco relic will again be at St Margaret Mary’s, where it will be farewell at a Centenary Mass led by Archbishop of Melbourne Peter Comensoli at 11:00am.
