The Parish Community of St Brigid’s and St Mark’s

Becoming an Intercultural Missionary Community
“People will come from the East and West, North and South, and will take their places in the feast in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 13: 29)
Vision
Inspired by the Holy Scriptures and Tradition, we, the intercultural Parish Community of St Brigid’s and St Mark’s, are called to bear witness to a missionary discipleship by remembering our history, honouring diversity, creating a safe and hospitable place, and celebrating communion.
Mission
In carrying out this vision, the Parish Community of St Brigid’s and St Mark’s is committed in achieving its fulfillment through our actions by using a pastoral model called “ACTS”, which stands for Adoration-Communion-Teaching-Service. This acronym is based on Acts 2:42-47.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Adoration: We deepen and enrich our relationship with God by spending time with Him in Holy Hour, prayers, and devotions. Prayer Groups include Holy Hour of Divine Mercy, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Novena, Sacred Heart Devotion, I Thirst Movement (ITM), and Recollections.
Communion: We celebrate together joyfully the Sacraments especially the Eucharist every day and honour our culturally and linguistically diverse communities especially during the Parish and the Scalabrinian Feasts.
Teaching: We share our gift of faith and gather the people of God through Sacramental Program, Baptism Workshop, Lector and Acolyte Training, Safeguarding Training, Sunday Catechesis, RCIA, Consecration to Jesus through Mary, and Ongoing Faith Formation (Called to be Sent: With Burning Hearts).
Service: We respond to God’s call as missionary disciples to serve one another by getting involved in various committees such as liturgy, music, hospitality, youth group, social services (i.e., food distribution and job seeking) and socials.
