All Christians called to pray for new Pentecost: Saturday at 10 p.m. Rome time (4 pm EDT)

From the Catholic Charismatic Renewal comes an invitation to recall that the Spirit’s greatest miracles come in response to our praise.

All Christians of every Church and ecclesial community are being invited to virtually join together at 10 p.m. Rome time (4 p.m. EDT) this Saturday, on the vigil of the solemnity of Pentecost, to implore the Holy Spirit and ask for a “new Pentecost” in the world.

The initiative comes from CHARIS, an organization the Vatican created last year to be at the service of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in all its forms.

The vigil will begin with a reflection with the Word of God, the reading of the account of Pentecost in Acts of the Apostles.

It will be followed by a short homily and the prayer of the Sequence of Pentecost in five languages.

The event is expected to draw participants from more than 100 countries, who will be linked at the web site of CHARIS.

11am Sunday Mass @ St Patrick's Cathedral to be televised on C31

We are pleased to share that during this time of physical isolation due to COVID-19, our 11am Sunday Mass will continue to be televised free to air on C31 (often listed as Channel 44 on digital TVs) as well as live streamed on our website and YouTube channel

We invite you to share the news widely,

particularly with those who might be limited to TV viewing.

Let us pray together for doctors, hospital staff and volunteers

who are giving their own lives to save others.

And for civil leaders, for those who have to make decisions at this time.

All these people are the pillars defending us in this crisis...

The God of tenderness will heal us of all life's wounds and of all

the bad things we have done.

Returning to God means returning to an embrace,

the embrace of the Creator.

(Pope Francis, homily, 20 March 2020)

Watch, Lord, with those who work or walk or weep tonight.

Give the angels and saints charge over those who sleep.

O Lord Jesus Christ, tend your sick ones,

rest Your weary ones,

bless Your dying ones,

soothe the suffering ones,

pity all the afflicted ones,

shield the joyful ones,

and all for Your love's sake.
